Where we come from
Bell Fundraising Ltd. was founded in 2003 to help charities develop regular repeatable income from payroll giving.
In response to charities' requrests, we formed Smile a Minute, a unique collaboration of charities working with Bell Fundraising Ltd. to develop payroll giving support. In 2004 Friends at Work, a group of 12 charities, was formed and in 2006 we formed our third group, Make a Difference, consisting of 9 charities.
Our founder – Willemina Bell
Those who knew Willemina were struck both by her relentless energy and commitment to payroll giving.
She founded Bell Fundraising Consultancy in 1988 to help charities develop regular repeatable income from payroll giving. Bell Fundraising Consultancy became Bell Fundraising Ltd in 2003 and Willi was joined by her sister, Helen Wasey.
Bell Fundraising Ltd pioneered the idea of grouping charities together so that monies raised were shared equally between both big and little charities and of providing an all encompassing service to these newly formed consortia.
Falling ill to cancer, Willemina asked Johanna Wright, an expert in the field, to join Bell and help with her dream. Tragically Willi passed away in September 2005 and Helen and Jo are privileged to be able to carry on Willi’s work.
“Willi once said to us that there were so many charities in the UK jostling to get across a narrow drawbridge towards a successful payroll giving campaign and that we simply had to build a bigger bridge.” That’s what Jo and Helen and everyone at Bell are committed to doing, ‘Building a Bigger Bridge’.
We hope you’ll help us……
